Pain.com, like most medical web sites on the World Wide Web that provide quality educational content, depend on support provided in the form of educational grants to support the significant costs of developing and providing this information to a worldwide audience. Through this support, Pain.com is able to offer quality educational and informational content absolutely free and without restrictions to all users. In order to ensure the continued integrity of the editorial process established by the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation, Pain.com has established the following policy governing the acceptance and display of advertising and support for this website.
- The Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation, the owner of Pain.com, has been an accredited sponsor of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) since 1984 and fully complies with the Essential Areas and Policies established by the ACCME during the planning, development and presentation of all CME accredited educational activities offered on this website. Educational activities accredited by other accrediting organizations will fully comply with the guidelines and policies established by those accrediting organizations for their specialty.
- Pain.com shall have sole discretion for determining the types of advertising and support that shall be accepted and displayed on Pain.com. All advertising on Pain.com shall comply with the laws and regulations of the United States of America.
- Under no circumstances shall Pain.com's acceptance of support for this website be considered an endorsement of the company or the product(s) which they manufacture.
- Pain.com retains the right to reject support of any kind, and will not accept support that, in Pain.com's opinion, makes unsubstantiated claims of therapeutic benefit for a particular product(s).
- Current and future supporters of Pain.com exercise no authority over the content that is developed and maintained on this website. The development and provision of all educational and informational content in all areas of Pain.com is the sole responsibility of the Pain.com faculty, editorial staff, and the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation.
- No specific products will be advertised on Pain.com. Pain.com does not allow banner ads, pop-up windows or other marketing techniques that detract from the educational purpose of this website. Commercial companies who support Pain.com are acknowledged for their support by the placement of their company logo on the areas they support. In accordance with the ACCME's Internet Policy, a link from that company logo to the company's website is provided to allow visitors to find out more about the supporter if they desire. Pain.com has established a window that will remind you that you will be leaving Pain.com to enter a commercial website and allow you to continue or to return to Pain.com if you desire.
- Pain.com will not develop or display promotional material of any kind. All material placed on Pain.com is for educational or informational purposes only.
- Educational material developed and placed on Pain.com with the support of a commercial company, including accredited programs, will provide proper disclosure to the participant of the support of the commercial company, and the relationship, if any, of the author(s) to the commercial company who supported the activity.
- Since Pain.com's inception in February 1997, it has been our goal to provide both health care professionals and consumers with the finest and most current information on the care and treatment of pain. Our goal has been to provide this information completely free to all users. We are able to accomplish this goal through the efforts of an outstanding group of faculty who develop the quality educational content for this website and the commercial supporters who provide the funds to enable the Dannemiller Foundation to continue to operate the website.
- These companies, our faculty and the Dannemiller Foundation share a commitment to the provision of quality, non-biased, and non-commercial educational and informational content for health care professionals who need it and to the millions of pain sufferers who want more information on the cause, treatment and management of their pain.
