Seasonal Depression - Emotional Pain

Since December is Seasonal Depression Awareness month, we thought we would promote a local San Antonio Organization that works with children. The Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas supports children who have lost a parent, grandparent, or sibling. Michelli Gomez, the center's Program and Outreach Coordinator, is speaking this month on the topic Grief and the Holidays.  The objectives for these engagements are to:

•  Explore the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual dynamics of grief
•  Learn to create new meaning out of the holiday season
•  Explore creative and compassionate ways of supporting friends or family who may be grieving this holiday season

The holiday season is a time when emotions can overtake us. We tend to think about those who are no longer with us. These emotions can trigger painful reactions. Sometimes family support is all we need to overcome this pain. In other cases, professional support is required.
