Homeopathic Medicine

“Let likes be cured with likes.”
~Samuel Hahemann
Samuel Hahemann is a German physician who lived in the 1800's and credited with the discovery of homeopathy science. Although this principal had been known for many centuries, it was during this "age of enlightenment" when homeopathic medicine was recognized and became more widely used. Homeopathic medicines come from plants, minerals and the animal kingdom. They do not contain non-natural chemicals, are non-toxic and non-addictive.
Homeopathy science is based on the Law of Similars and Potentization. The Law of Similars states since exposure to a substance can cause specific symptoms in a healthy person, that substance can stimulate the body's curative powers to overcome similar symptoms during illness. In other words, homeopathic remedies for a particular illness contain substances of what caused the illness. Potentization is a process that involves a series of precise dilutions and a vigorous shaking action. The repeated process of dilution brings about an energetic change that gives the substance a deeper curative effect.
Homeopathy offers a way to gently stimulate the body’s inner healing resources by focusing on the body’s natural defenses. It is a holistic method of cure that takes into account not just the physical, but also the mental and emotional symptoms. The whole body must be evaluated in order to determine the correct remedy and dosage. People will respond differently to remedies even with the same diagnosis.
Homeopathic medicine practitioners believe symptoms are a good sign that the body is fighting off illness or disease. Rather than suppressing symptoms, it acknowledges them as a sign the body is trying to heal itself. Homeopathics seek long-term improvements to overall health verses temporararily "fixing" symptoms. It has been used to relieve physical, mental and emotional illness such as migraines, depression, allergies, ear infections, sleep problems and much more.
Although non-toxic and non-addictive, homeopathic remedies should be chosen carefully and used correctly in order for effectiveness. Board certified homeopaths are required to complete extensive training. Homeopath practitioners can be located at http://www.homeopathy.org/directory_entrance.html
